Three Simple Steps To Starve Out The Scary And Love In The New

Never has it been necessary to monitor our mental outlook so closely and take conscious steps to keep ourselves happy.

Is this a gift, or a curse? Only the day will tell how we feel about it – some days, it is more difficult and some days we fly!

If we are honest with ourselves, we will admit that the last couple of years has shifted us personally and collectively. It has been painful to some degree, but most would agree that adverse conditions tend to waken the human spirit.

More people are waking up to the idea that perhaps we have more of a say about what happens in our life than our conditioning and outside authorities have taught us.

How is this so?

1. WE ARE BUILT BY OUR PAST BUT UPDATED BY OUR PRESENT

We become who we are by nature and by nurture. Our unique essence is tempered by everything we are taught, directly and indirectly, by our parents, family, caregivers, teachers, coaches, and by the society in which we live. We learn to listen to outside sources for our forward movement, until we realize, one day, that it fails to catalyze growth and movement. When pushed, we realize that outside sources of information have boxed us in such limited ways of being that our life no longer looks like our own. The magic moment comes when we decide we want to feel better, and we begin the quest for new information, people, modalities, and systems to help us expand past limitations seemingly locked into place. We turn our attention away from the past and its scary constraints and pour our energy into becoming open and accepting of different messaging that appeals to us. Life now seems welcoming, charged, and full of hope. We are ready!

2. WHO DO WE LISTEN TO?

As we begin our search for fresh ideas, we have, usually unconsciously, placed our order with the Universe. Ideas, information, people, and situations begin to trickle in for our consideration. Hooray! Our mind, heart, and soul are celebrating our liberation and soaking up what speaks to us. When we choose to listen to the voice of our soul and not the voice of the ego, the path forward is more effortless and smoother. What is the difference you ask? The voice of the ego is loud, clanging, and dissonant to our energy. This is the voice that gets our attention, because of its urgency. The voice of our soul, on the other hand, is quiet, yet powerful, solid, and resonant with our energy. It is quite possible to miss this wisdom due to our busy, distracted lives. When we choose to become quiet on a more regular basis, we begin to hear the softer urgings of our higher selves. We are preparing the way!

3. WE ARE THE ARCHITECTS OF OUR REALITY

The sooner we become comfortable with the notion that our thoughts, feelings, words, and actions have consequences, the more firmly our feet will be planted on the right path forward. That path is as unique and special as we are, so we develop the knack for staying in our lane. Dr. Wayne Dyer once said, “If you want your life to change, you have to change your life.” This goes hand in hand with the definition of insanity – doing the same thing repeatedly, expecting a different result. Life has a way of showing us results and if we are paying attention, we pick up where we are falling. We step into the change as we choose new ways of being. Our love affair with fresh ideas, the conjuring of more renewing emotions, expressing ourselves, and behaving in ways that speak our divergent reality become fastened into place with time. We are walking in our new reality!

What we focus on expands. By turning our attention away from the painful scenarios that we cannot change and choosing instead, to focus on what we want, we till the soil of our dreams.

We plant the seeds with gratitude and germinate them with aligned action.

When we fall in love with change, openness, and growth, we can watch what shows up to reflect our beautiful selves as we emerge from the chrysalis to soar in the sunlight!
